Read My Lips! The Good and The Bad on (some) Lipsticks

I think I have a fairly decent collection of lipsticks; Ranging from light shades to dark shades. I tend to dispose of some lipsticks to make room for some new ones. So here's what's in my bag right now and my short review:

1. Prestige in Berry Fantasy

(berry color)

The good: It's a nice color, lasts fairly long on lips

The bad: In time, the lipstick starts to smell funky. Not stinky, but there's a noticeable smell, kinda like MAC lipsticks. I'm not a fan of MAC lipsticks for the smell.

2. Nyx in Power

(pale lavender)

The good: Pretty pigmented color, very creamy, super cheap

The bad: Doesn't last very long

3. Tony Moley Kiss Lover Lipstick in (some korean color)

(pale pink)

The good: Pretty color, very creamy

The bad: Container made lipstick jammed. Wont turn upward.

4. Clinique Long Last in All Heart

(berry colored, red)

The good: Lasts long on lips, creamy and moisturizing, nice color, my second fave

The bad: Can't think of any except that the steel container is prone to rust/tarnish in time.

5. In2It in Cranberry

(dark berry color, plum/magenta)

The good: Pretty pigmented color, creamy and not dry, lasts fairly long on lips

The bad: Can't think of any yet. This is perhaps my new fave brand only because the quality is good for a budget brand.

In Hong Kong, I visited a restaurant in Causeway bay area called Sushi Hiro. I felt like I was in sushi heaven! Easily one of the tastiest freshest, most varied sushi I've ever tasted.

If you happen to be in Hong Kong, and feel like splurging on a lovely sushi meal, I definitely recommend you try Sushi Hiro.

They ask you to fill out a checklist of the sushi you want. I chose 2 of each.

This was the appetizer: Veggies, tofu, and chawanmushi . The chawanmushi was delicious!

Let the feast begin!

For desert, you can choose between coffee or milk tea to go with your green tea mousse. I chose milk tea, which is basically black tea where you pour some cream on it. Refreshing!

1. NIVEA Oil control Moisture Gel for men. Ok ok, I know this product is for men. All I can say is don't knock it 'til you've tried it. I love how it's for oil control and has Salicylic Acid which helps heal acne scars and prevent acne. And best of all it's moisturizing too. And it works for me.

2. NIVEA Sparkling White Acne oil control cleansing foam. I talked about this in an old post. The verdict — I recommend it. It's a great face wash to use before I put on the other Nivea men-gel-thing. It cleans and lightens acne marks. Also, I haven't been breaking out as much as I used to lately. I dunno. It could also be the combination of all these 3 products that I've been using lately.

3. SMASHBOX Primer Light. This is primer especially made for oily skin. You know how if you have oily skin, makeup usually just slides off your face after 2 hours? Well, you need this primer. It can be worn alone for a matte look or worn under foundation to make it last for hours. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it.

So there you have it. My oil and acne control regimen. Care to share what kind of products you recommened/love?

I recently watched Inception again and noticed Ellen Page's neck. Particularly her scarves. I love scarves. A lot of scarves I see around are big and heavy, which isn't practical for a warm climate country like the Philippines. I like the lightness of the ones she wears in the movie. She wears it well. She doesn't look like a douche or a flight attendant.

I want to have a scarf within a pattern of a lot of scarves. That's the dream, man.

While we're on the topic of oily skin (Lots of people say that this is good because it means less wrinkles when I get older, but DAMMIT having oily skin in a humid climate is a bitch!) I've been constantly on the lookout for more products that help oil control. Having frequent breakouts is also an effect of having oily skin, then those reddish acne marks/spots that stay for weeks.

Recently, I got my paws on this face wash. I've started using it for 2 days. So far, so good!

To sum up, this is exactly what I was looking for:

1. Cleans into pores to remove dirt & 90% of oil

2. Acne Reduction Technology helps prevent acne

3. Skin Nutrient Formula helps lighten dark spots and acne marks

4. Minimizes appearance of pores

5. Smoothens skin without dry feeling

I'm gonna use this regularly for a few weeks and see how I like it.

Searching for a new mineral powder: Physician's Formula Review

If you're blessed with oily skin and dripping sarcasm like me, chances are you're a sucker for mineral powders. My mineral powder of choice has always been Loreal's Bare Naturale Mineral, but for some retarded reason, they discontinued selling it in the Philippines. (Why Loreal Ph? Why!?)

So I've decided to give a new mineral powder a shot - Physician's Formula Mineral Loose Powder Foundation is the same price range as my other mineral powder.

What really caught my attention was that it was for:

- Extra sensitive skin

- Breakout-prone skin

- talc-free

- Performance and coverage of a foundation

- blendability and finish of loose powder

Packaging - The cap securely encloses the sift, so that the powder that comes out is just just right. (and not a blasting mess of powder, like some.) Brush is okay, maybe a little rough, but I've been spoiled with The Body Shop's soft buffer brush.

Price - less than 1k, sells for Php 986 w/ free shipping at Tamera Online

Color - Color shade is accurate when you look through the bottle. I just noticed that when you apply it, it appears light at first, but continue blending and the color will look more like the actual color.

Smell - It's scentless, which I like.

Coverage: It feels very light on the face, and not heavy and cakey. Although it doesn't give much coverage as a foundation, it's good as a loose powder, to dust on top of BB cream and for everyday wear.

Spinach Dip

I think I'm gonna make posting mobile photos a regular activity here. I like how ironic it is that I'm using a modern phone to take old-looking photos. But I've come to find it really charming. So sue me.

I made spinach dip the other day. It tastes better than it looks.

I used Alton Brown's recipe on the internet but without the artichokes:

1 cup thawed, chopped frozen spinach
6 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (I didn't have this, so I opted for a sprinkle of garlic cooked with oil on a saucepan. Don't put too much, it might be to garlicky)

Directions
Boil spinach (with/without artichokes) in 1 cup of water until tender and drain. Discard liquid. Heat cream cheese in microwave for 1 minute or until hot and soft. Stir in rest of ingredients and serve hot.

Last thursday, I attended the NIVEA + MANGO Glam Express event. The event launched NIVEA’s Express Hydration Lotion and their Facebook application called Glam Board Express.

I don't really attend much blogger events, so it was an awesome sensory overload for me — Mango clothes, tasty food, shiny pretty people, LCD screens, internet apps, and nice-smelling moisturizers. Yo quiero!

I also learned how to pronounce Beirsdorf. It sounds a lot like "buyer's dorf".

When I first tried this, I noticed that it felt mild and silky and not sticky like some lotions.

The fab organizers from Nivea alongside the night's host, L.A., of Clothing not Optional.

I met these two awesome bloggers. Anne (I'm not sure if you want me to publish your blog here since you go by a pen name. hehe) and Janelle were also my ambushers/teammates/stylists in the Styling Contest. We recreated the rocker chick look and they dressed me* up in leather and boots.

I'm so bummed I wasn't able to to chow on the buffet after cuz I had to leave early. The food was catered by Cibo and looks so fucking yummy.

DIY (a.k.a. Do it better than I did): Two-tone Nails or Inverted French Tips

Things you will need:

2 colors of nail polish, small circular stickers (I just found these yellow smiley face sticker lying around at home, but it's probably better if you buy special stickers), nail polish remover (not pictured; if you're a horrible painter like me and need to erase mistakes)

Step 1: Paint one layer of color on your nails and let it dry. Make it neat, unlike mine below.

Step 2: Cover a small curved area with your sticker on the bottom nail. Grumpy sticker is not happy.

Step 3: Paint another layer of a different color on top of the uncovered area. Holy crap I suck at this, but you get the idea...

Step 4: When nails are dry, remove stickers. Re-touch edges if necessary.

If you did it neatly and well, hopefully it wont look like this (and that's a good thing):

Minimalist Review for a Minimalist Powder: Tony Moly Mineral Powder Pact

Tony Moly Mineral Skin Fit Powder Pact

Packaging - 4/5 (stars) Minimalist and sleek. Powder puff is soft, but I'm not sure how it will hold up when I wash it. Sponges seem more sturdy.

Price - 4/5 (less than 1k)

Color range - 3/5 I think they carry only 3 shades. All light.

Smell - 5/5 mild, clean (not floral) fragrance, if you like that sorta stuff.

Coverage: 3/5 Good. Matte, even though you see some shimmer on the cake, you don't see it on your face, which I like.

Guess who's 100 years-young??

Today I came home to find this little package on my doorstep (figuratively speaking) waiting for me. It was from NIVEA celebrating 100 years of skin care. In the package was printed tee shirt, a bottle of Express Hydration body lotion, and the iconic Nivea Creme in a blue tin.

It's nice how Nivea keeps its history alive by retaining the retro blue packaging and logo. It's so iconic, like Coca-Cola. So simple and basic. It just feels like it belongs in EVERY makeup bag / bathroom counter / medicine cabinet / flat surface.

I vaguely remember having first encountered the NIVEA blue tin creme in mom's fridge (yep that's right) when I was a lot younger. I remember opening the container, sniffing it, scooping out a small dollop of creme with my fingers, and putting it on my face, soft and cool.

I was kinda curious to know just how far the blue tin goes back, and found this:

I Love Beijing (Part 2: chow)

Street stalls selling stinky tofu, snakes, beetles, and centipedes on a stick.

Scorpions on a stick. I have mixed feelings about trying the scorpions. On one hand, i really wanted to try them because i love watching Bizarre Foods in Discovery channel. But on the other hand, I wasn't keen on trying them because they've been sitting out in the sun for a long time and it was my first day there. I didn't want to have stomach problems for the whole trip.

Now on to the yummier stuff....

For breakfast, dimsum. Sweet rolls, egg tarts, and congee...

For an afternoon refreshing drink, this. I saw everyone drinking from this clay jar with a straw. Turns out it was a yogurt drink. I'm not so fond of yogurt, but this was quite good. Very refreshing. It looks like I had a mouthful of yogurt here.

For dinner, fresh orange juice, pekking duck, and minced duck and veggies on a nest of lettuce

I love how colorful and vibrant Beijing is. At first I edited my photos to a vintage photo look. But I realized it sucked balls to mute such crisp colors, so I increased saturation and brightness instead.

There's something about applying stuff on my face (or watching people apply stuff on their face) that gives me a feeling of zen... sorta. So naturally, I quite enjoy my morning routine of applying shit (figuratively speaking) on my face. Here's a short rundown of

MY SUMMER ROUTINE ESSENTIALS:

FACE

After cleansing my face with a carrot soap bar, I apply sunblock. Latley I've been using this NIVEA Sparkling White UV blocker. For as long as I can remember, I've always preferred to get a tan. (We always want what we don't have) But I realize now that I'd rather keep my light skin. This facial sunblock is oil-free and hydrating too, which sounds delicious for the hot muggy weather.

MAC's Fluidline Gel Liner

Next I apply foundation. Your foundation may already have SPF, but I heard it doesn't quite protect it as well as an actual sunblock. I'm currently using 3 types of liquid foundation but I haven't decided which one I like best. Sometimes I skip the liquid and just dust mineral powder foundation on my face.

EYES

After covering the bases, I apply the rest of my makeup. This is the makeup I wear everyday for work. I apply eyebrow pen/pencil. Then I smudge a really small line of gel eyeliner - not on my lids - but on the lower part of the eye, and halfway only. I feel like it just adds an extra depth, making it look like I have bigger eyes. I love MAC's Fluidline Gel Liner. My eyes get really oily and runny but this stays put very well in the summer.

CHEEKS

I don't use blush everyday. Instead, I use The Body Shop Bronzing Powder on my cheeks. It looks more natural and I prefer the neutral glow it gives to balance out my light skin because there's nothing I hate more than looking white AND pink.

1. I have a pet lovebird. He's named after the evil Pirate LeChuck from Monkey Island, but I call him Chuck for short.

2. I'm a french fries fiend. I love french fries like no other type of food. I'll eat all types, wedges, curly fries, the fat ones, the thin ones, McDonald's ones.

3. I used to teach English to Japanese students for a few months.

4. I listen to hard rock music and pop music. Yes, both.

5. I like the idea of breakfast, I love breakfast food. but I'm NOT a morning person. So tragic.

6. I have a very short term memory for books I've read. That's why I enjoy reading my a lot of my favorite books over AND over again. I have read the Harry Potter books, and Diary (by Chuck Palahniuk) and White Oleander (Janet Fitch) like five times.

7. I like Sinigang, which is a signature Filipino stew, flavored with sour tamarind, vegetables, pork or seafood.

5 Things I Learned from My Recent Mineral Makeup Class

1. I have neutral skin undertones (and naturally fair skin tone but with my summer tan, I have a medium skin tone). I have a mix of blue and green veins (as opposed to just blue or just green) that can be seen through my wrist, which means I have neutral skin undertone. (Whatever that means...)

2. How to apply eyeshadow. My oriental eyes make it difficult for me to add depth to my lids using eyeshadow. This class was the first time I was actually able to make a half decent attempt at applying eyeshadow using 4 steps and 4 shades of brown!

3. The smudge/blender brush! It really helps blend the eyeshadow! (Must remember to buy one)

4. It's OK to mix mineral makeup with normal makeup. As long as powders always go on top of liquids.

5. I can't think of anything else. I don't have any photos of my complete made-up face after the class. And in any case, you wouldn't have wanted to see it. My face was a melting pile of hours of applying layers and layers of pigments. Thank god it was mineral makeup, which is usually less harsh on my skin.

Can you tell I've been enjoying my new smartphone a lot? So I found another cute Android app that I can waste time on. Androidify is an app that lets you create an android-inspired avatar of yourself. It's kinda lame but it's actually quite fun. My guilty pleasure is making weird avatars of myself and occasionally, other people.

How cool is that!! They have a bird "accessory"??! I have a bird accessory! His name is Chuck. And he'll poop on my shirt if I let him perch on my shoulder like that. Fun times.

As I explore what cool things to download on my lovely cheapass Android smartphone, I thought I'd share some apps I've come to love and can't live without (none of that Angry Birds crap). Clicking on the names leads directly to the Android market downloads page.)

1. Meebo IM

I love how simple it is to use. I've tried a lot of multi-platform IM apps and I'm most satisfied with Meebo. Good connection, archived convos, and best interface by far.

2. Guitar Solo Lite

If you're a frustrated musician like I am, you should get this app. For a free app, you can program the chords of your favourite songs, save them, and strum them like you would a guitar. Mine is set to "Billionaire" (that's right yo) If you pay for the Pro upgrade you get to save and archive your programmed guitar chords.

3. Womanlog Calendar

Okaaaay, this is where it gets girly. I used to log my periods in a normal calendar and it was such a hassle to do! This app predicts your next period, ovulation period, fertile period for ANY month!! I chose this app out of 3 other menstrual cycle/ovulation calendars mainly because of the well-designed interface - not too complicated and not too dumb.

4. PixelPipe Facebook Upload and Status

Guess what? The Facebook app for android doesn't allow you to upload photos or videos (weird huh?) After some research, I found this little app that uploads my videos and/or photos to my Facebook! What more can I say? Perfect.

5. My Tumblr - Free

This is the official app for Tumblr, and it works like a dream. It's pretty cool. It doesn't frustrate me as I would have imagined, dealing with an image-heavy dashboard. It's so simple and smooth.

New Gadget: Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8

Here I go again! I lost my Nokia C3 at a Deftones concert last month, but I'm glad to say I have another excuse to get myself a new phone. I actually wasn't that happy with my C3 because it didn't support 3rd party apps very well; like for chat and social networks. (check out my updated review of it in the archives)

Here's my new baby! Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 running on Android* 1.6 (Donut) but upgradeable to 2.1 (Eclair). (Android OS versions sound so yummy!) So, I've been using this for a week and I'm happy with it.

*Android is an OS very much similar to the Apple iPhone. You can go to the Google Android Market and download apps like Angry Birds, Foursquare, Facebook, etc.

So basically, my requirements for a new phone were:

1. Wi-fi-capable

2. Easy to check mail, chat, and access social networking sites.

3. Cheap enough so I don't freak out if I happen to lose it.

4. Preferably comes free with a monthly phone plan

I got Sun Cellular Php999 plan for unlimited mobile surfing and Sun-to-Sun calls and texts. Globe Telecom has been disappointing lately with their customer service and their slow mobile internet. So I went with Sun, which is actually quite fast! I hope it stays that way. (This is not a sponsored thing! I'm just really happy with Sun lol)

Along with the Samsung Galaxy 5 and Huawei Ideos u81500 (which was originally my first choice), I've heard good things about the Xperia and these two very similar phones (affordable android phones and good quality). I settled for the Xperia because the Huawei and the Galaxy was just TOO HARD TO FIND in Manila! Weird.

But I'm glad I got this because of the slightly higher screen size (320 x 480 pixels, 3.0 inches compared to Samsung galaxy 5, which is at 240 x 320 pixels, 2.8 inches)

Even with the higher size, I still wish the screen was slightly larger (see below). I still have to get used to typing on the touch screen. Thank god for autospell (...sometimes.)

Beautiful Kota Kinabalu Part 2

This is my second and last photo post about my trip to Kota Kinabalu. :) It's just too memorable to contain in one post.

In the morning, I should not have checked out the local newspaper....

I have no idea why these small fishes love to stay near the docking area. By the shore, there are much larger, prettier fishes. Too bad I wasn't able to take a photo.

Edited these colors for fun. I love the girl posing on the far right and the guy taking her photos. They were at it for a very long time! So funny to watch.

But I think we all did our fair share of camwhoring....

I call these my Lady Gaga sunglasses.

Lunch by the sea -- barbecue corn, shrimp, crab, fish, noodles. Food always tastes so much better when you're eating it at the beach.

Beautiful Kota Kinabalu

I'm back from my vacation to KK! We went on a river cruise to see monkeys and fireflies, but my favorite was snorkeling at the beaches. The water was so clear and the fishes were surprisingly large and colorful. I just wish I had an underwater camera to capture the memories. Paradise!*

*Disclaimer: If the beaches were paradise, all the public toilets were a nightmare. But it's such a small price to pay for a really affordable and amazing getaway spot like Kota Kinabalu.

The fishes weren't all like these school of small fishes. But this shot can give you an idea of how clear the water is.

DIY: Making 3D Anaglyph Images (the really lazy way)

If you don't have a special 3D camera or if you can't be bothered taking a photo in several slightly different angles, then this is for you. Here's a really simple way to make the 3d effect in 5 minutes or so. Note that this 3D effect is the easiest way, and that means it won't be as great as if you had done it the long way.

Step 1: Get an image you wanna make 3D. This is a photo of stuff in my bag from a previous post.

Step 2: Make sure you have Adobe Photoshop installed in your computer then watch the video below. I didn't make the video but learned how to do this from there.

And voila!!! Notice how it's very subtle w/o wearing the 3D glasses but if you put them on, you can see definitely each object pop out. (click on the image for a higher resolution version)

Step 3: Put on your 3D glasses and enjoy!!!

H&M black tank, Preview white polo, F21 skirt

The top part wasn't really what I ended up wearing. Diamonds! The color black! Cliché outfit was cliché. Right before I left, I changed to a white top, then ran out the door. I figured white was also good color if ever I got lost and my friend needed to find me in a sea of black.

The black nails were the biggest cliche of all, but this was the first time I had ever worn black nail polish (badly painted i might add) so i regret nothing!

They are so good live!! The concert was excellent and their song list consisted of songs from their new and old albums.

A lot of people might wanna cringe/punch me/roll their eyes/pity me for what I'm about to say. Some of them being:

1. Part of my New Year's resolution is to eat more and stop....

2. ...Looking so scrawny by building/toning up, specifically my arm muscles.

3. These books you see here are my DIY "weights" in the meantime while I find myself actual weights

4. They are pretty darn heavy in my opinion.

5. Check out some of my wicked collection of intellectualisticaltastic book... thingies.

Do you have any tips for toning up, gaining a little extra weight, building arm muscles? Besides eating spinach...

On a different note, I highly recommend these books (except the bottom-most purple one). I LOVE "All Access," one of my favorite books about 30 inspirational graphic designers of the century.

Johnny Rockets Philippines

This is a little late, but I finally got to try Johnny Rockets a few weeks ago. I like Johnny Rockets, especially the idea of having burgers with milkshakes. Two of the things I ALWAYS crave for. But unfortunately, I didn't care very much for the franchises in the Philippines.

First of all, because the burgers were kinda pricey, second, the grilled cheese sandwiches I ordered were pricey, TINY, and not very good. Third, the overall flourecent lighting of the place was kind of cheap and cold.

But the thing i liked the most was the onion rings and the milkshakes, which were delicious!

Also, the refillable fries were fun!

Last New Year's Eve, I lit a firecracker (for good luck they said, so I did. I'm happy to say no limbs were lost!) and I pretty much had a pretty good year from that point on -- Quitting my stressful job, bumming around, traveling, teaching English, meeting interesting students, meeting amazing new people, meeting people who I thought were amazing but really weren't (but that's ok), learning a new instrument, starting a new job, working near plane hangars, making new memories and experiences.

Many firsts and many lasts.

This New Year's Eve, I'm gonna wear red in hopes it'll bring me another good year ahead (whatever that means for me). I've always hated wearing red, but I'm learning to love it. It's so vibrant.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Around two or three years ago I read a book called "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close." I'm re-reading it again this time because I am so forgetful when it comes to books I've read. The prose is very beautiful and the author is very, I don't know, sentimental? The story is told from a 9-year-old boy's perspective and it's about different people coping and adjusting to what happened in 9/11. It's also about change, and moving on. Needless to say, this book made me bring out a box of tissues.

I'm in love with the book cover. I'm a sucker for book design and the cover is what initially made me pick up the book in the bookstore. The pages of the book are also filled with little interesting surprises that make the storytelling richer and more dynamic:

This part blew my mind because you can feel what the character feels by the words AND the typography -- how the spacing of the text gets tighter and tighter.

What if everyone swallowed them, and they played the sounds of our hearts through little speakers, which could be in the pouches of our overalls? When you skateboarded down the street at night you could hear everyone's heartbeat, and they could hear yours, sort of like sonar. If you live in Manila and if you still have some money to spare from all the Christmas shopping, you should really drop by Robinson's Galleria Department Store. They have a sale on their cosmetics (Maybelline, Revlon and L'Oreal).

Selected L'Oreal products have 25% off! As you can see I hoarded my favorite mineral foundation. Instead of the usual Php900-something price, I paid around Php700 or so. I tried other brands and so far I think this is the best product [i.e., good coverage, perfect skin blend] for the best price.

Unfortunately I forgot to ask how long their sale will last, but usually they have sales like this every few months. Try to check it out this week!

What's your favorite mineral (or otherwise) foundation?

In other news, I really want to try out this crazy french tips style. Maybe later in the week when my nails have had a nailpolish-free rest.

Got myself an early Christmas present that has been on my wish list for a while now, A CANON S90! This is an older version of the S95, but for me it's just as good and way cheaper than the former.

I really like how small and compact it is, and that it takes decent shots with no flash in low lighting (see the candle icon on the knob below? Fuck yeah.)

The camera screen is so crisp and clear. TOO crisp and clear. Sometimes I get disappointed when I see my photos transferred to my computer.

Ok so I got this L'oreal White Perfect moisturizing day cream with SPF to try. I have light (or asian or whatever) skin so I guess you're thinking it would be weird to try a product that says "whitening" on it? I hate products that tell you a dark skinned person will get fairer skin if they use their product. Well, this one doesn't. Thank God. No before and after pics. Thank God.

Aside from brightening your skin tone (which sounds good actually), the cream helps prevent skin dullness, uneven skin tone, large pores, skin dryness. My skin isn't as spotchy red as it sometimes can be. It also doesn't break me out, which is a good sign, because someone told me if a product breaks you out, that means you're allergic to it. I love L'oreal products! I really do. I don't have the best skin genes in the world, but I'm pretty happy with my foundation, which is also L'oreal and I'm sticking to it.

Yesterday, I painted my nails RED. I don't normally do this because every time I do, I find it strange on my hands. And for some reason the shade of red really doesn't match my skin tone. Well I think I found one shade that I like. The brand is called Sasatinnie which comes from SASA, a store in Hong Kong. Unfortunately it doesn't have a nailpolish name!!!! WTF. The best part about making colors is

NAMING THEM!

If I could name this color, it would be, "French Music"

I really suck at painting my nails. I mean, look at this mess. There's bits of red on the sides. I don't care.

On a related note, I like the effect of pale skin and black and red accents.

This is my first time to buy something like this in eBay.ph. Got this ~~impulse buy~~ Jill Stuart (...or so the tag says) jumper dress for really cheap. The seller sells primarily pre-owned "branded" clothes. And a lot of people bid for her stuff, sometimes for a lot more than her starting bid prices (hello, money-making idea). But apparently, no one else wanted this dress even though it said it was in excellent condition. Well no one, except me.

I like seeing what people bid for in eBay. I see a lot of people who are moved to buying some fugly dresses maybe just because there's a "designer" label on it. I don't mean to offend people but I can't help but wonder how a brand affects how we see an object? I imagine an old lady sewing designer labels on hideous dresses and laughing hysterically. But I guess people don't see it as such a big loss because it's cheap.

Anyway, this is my fugly dress. (grey shirt not included)

Lists: What's in my bag? part deux

I've had a What's-in-my-bag post before, but I'd also like to do a what's in my makeup bag. I own pretty basic stuff, but these are a few things that I can't live and leave without and I highly recommend (in bold):

1. Body shop mineral buffing brush (so soft!)

2. Dr. Oil shine-free primer and moisturizer

3. L'Oreal True match minerals powder (the Nude Ivory shade matches my skin tone perfectly. I rarely use the brush that comes with this cuz it's rather rough. Instead, I use the buffing brush)

4. The Body Shop bronzer (I love this, I use this as a blush or for contouring but the bad thing about this is that it doesn't come with a brush, so I use my own.)

5. Maybelline moisture extreme lipstick. (Colors are nice and these are one of the fewer cheap lipsticks with good quality. I have a few more sticks inside my bag. This one is the red one)

6. Etude house concealer (...not sure how this compares with other concealers)

7. Canmake Eyebrow pen (My mom got me this from Hong Kong. I love this! It lasts really long)

8. Etude House Code: B mascara (Another really good buy! My all-time fave mascara to date. It doesn't smudge and it gets out easily with just soap and water)

9. Mac gel eyeliner in black and Etude House angled brush

So that's about it! Did you notice how I don't have any eyeshadow here? That's because I rarely use eyeshadow. The things here are my normal routine.

Yay! Big shout-out to my friend, Nikko for giving me the most awesome and unique b-day gift ever! A skateboard for Chuck! The skateboard came with extra wheels, a screwdriver thingy and some stickers.

I don't really know how to start training him.

He seems to like the skateboard though. I tried putting him on the skateboard when he won't climb on it. But sometimes he'd get on it by himself! Sometimes he attacks the skateboard and starts pecking on the wheels.

He got on it by himself! So smart... like his master. (cough)

I had a nice relaxing birthday :) Even if a lot of people don't really know I have a blog, I'd just like to say thanks for all the greetings! <3
